Hartwig sent us the English version of the peace prayer that will be read by Ralf Radke on Saturday morning (25 September, 2021) in Cologne Cathedral:

We want to bring joy where sorrow dwells.
We want to tell the truth when there is error;
bring trust when doubt threatens.
We want to awaken hope when despair torments;
to kindle a light when darkness reigns;
we want to forgive when insulted
and connect when there is conflict.
We want to be an instrument of peace
and love when there is hate.

More Cologne Flood News

Hartwig was kind and thoughtful to send the following media coverage of the flooding in Cologne and surrounding areas to give us a better idea of what people are dealing with in the aftermath. The before-and-after photographs are stunning and speak for themselves.

Thank you all for your continued support of our friends and families in Germany.

Photos from Mayday 2021

The German American Klub hosted a very pleasant outdoor Mayday celebration on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the GAK’s very own Edelweiss Restaurant in German Park on Indy’s South Side. This year’s Maibaum theme honored local German-American organizations, including our very own Indianapolis-Cologne Sister City Partnership Committee! The very cordial and welcoming GAK president Travis Jerde presided over the evening’s festivities. The Maibaumaufstellen was accompanied by GAK’s folk dance troupe Die Fledermäuschen, set to the the delightful musical stylings of the versatile DysFUNKtion Brass Band.

The Indiana-Cologne Jazz Exchange

The Indiana-Cologne Jazz Exchange is an international cultural collaboration among artists from Indiana and the Cologne Sister City Committee and Amerikahaus Nordrhein-Westfalen.

Renowned musician and jazz pianist Monika Herzig arranges annual visits to Germany to meet, teach and play with fellow jazz musicians. In 2020 the virtual exchange was initiated by Hartwig Prüßmann from the Cologne Sister City Committee. The following music sample was provided by Monika Herzig who is again planning a trip to Germany! Here is the Monika Herzig Trio …
