Double Rainbow and Other Recent Goings On in Cologne

Hartwig Prüßmann, chairman of Freundeskreis Köln-Indianapolis e.V., sent us seven photos of recent events from Cologne: Cologne’s Sister Cities festival, the dismatling of the suspended scaffolding on the north tower of Cologne Cathedral (background info: https://www.koelner-dom.de/aktuelles/news) and a spectacular double rainbow!

Wishing everyone well this Tuesday afternoon! Hartwig Prüßmann just sent a beautiful shot of the Cologne Cathedral. The scaffolding deconstruction had to be put on hold due to high winds.

Hartwig sent us the English version of the peace prayer that will be read by Ralf Radke on Saturday morning (25 September, 2021) in Cologne Cathedral:

We want to bring joy where sorrow dwells.
We want to tell the truth when there is error;
bring trust when doubt threatens.
We want to awaken hope when despair torments;
to kindle a light when darkness reigns;
we want to forgive when insulted
and connect when there is conflict.
We want to be an instrument of peace
and love when there is hate.

A Message from HinsundKunzt:

Below is a thank you message from Hinsundkunzt neighborhood initiative in Cologne:

Dear supporters in Indianapolis and elsewhere in the USA,

Our friend Hartwig Prüßmann informed you about the current situation after the flooding catastrophe in our area and how to make a donation.

Many of you helped our friends and families with a financial support in order to buy relief supplies for the victims of the flood disaster in Germany.

We would like to thank you very much!

In a few days we will publish some photos of the actions and the delivery of the relief goods on the internet at http://www.hinsundkunzt.de/katastrophe.

Should anyone still want to help, we look forward to every donation that we receive via PayPal to info@hinsundkunzt.de.

100% of all donations will be passed on to those affected.

Many Thanks.

Flood Relief Donations Link

If you would like to make a donation for Flood Relief, the Chicago office of the Consulate General of Germany has offered the following information:

Dear Colleagues,

The horrendous floods in various areas of Germany and the pictures going through all media don’t leave people untouched here in the United States. Thank you very much to everybody for offering support for German flood victims. Some regions have really been hit hard to an extent we have never seen before.

As a reputable organization offering relief to flood victims I would suggest “Aktion Deutschland hilft – Germany’s Relief Coalition”. This is a coalition of about 15 German relief organizations with operations and technical capacities in a lot of fields. They also have an English webpage: www.aktion-deutschland-hilft.de/en/ .

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need more information.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen / best regards

Jan Münch
