Happy New Year to all our friends on the Indy-Cologne continuum!
We have two very fine examples of the Great Indy-Cologne Mask Exchange in action for you today, from our Cologne friends Carsten and Anne:

Fröhliche Weihnachten and Merry Christmas to all our friends in Indy and Cologne!
Last but certainly not least, our final “Great Indy-Cologne Mask Exchange” post of 2020 features our friends Hartwig and Andreas of Freundeskreis der Städtepartnerschaft Köln-Indianapolis e.V., fulfilling their civic responsibility in solidarity and style, sporting the Indy COVID-19 masks in Cologne, Germany:
Looking sharp, fellas!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We wish everyone a safe, restful break, and the very best wishes for 2021.
The Great Indy-Cologne Mask Exchange, pt. 3
Last week, Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett wore Cologne’s very fine COVID-19 mask to a groundbreaking ceremony for a new wing at Lutheran Child and Family Services (www.lutheranfamily.org) a charitable organization that provides invaluable services to the Indianapolis community.
This has been a part of the ongoing sister city mask exchange initiative, which will be presented this week at the German-American friendship week planned for Nov. 23 through Nov. 29 by the American Consulate in N.R.W.

Our friend Lydia Kluetsch is pictured here wearing the Indianapolis COVID-19 mask.
Way to be safe, Lydia!

The gestures of Indianapolis-Cologne Sister City solidarity continue!
Last week, members of the Indianapolis-Cologne Sister City Partnership Committee came together outside the Columbia Club on Indianapolis’ signature public space, Monument Circle. You can see they are sporting the COVID-19 masks from Cologne, Germany.
The Soldiers And Sailors Monument is now rigged with strings of lights which are ceremonially illuminated every year on the day after thanksgiving.
We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season!
Claudia Burger sports “Indy” facemask in Cologne
As a gesture of Sister City solidarity, Indy and Cologne have exchanged COVID-19 masks. Claudia Burger is pictured here in the stylish and practical blue “Indy” face mask popular throughout Indianapolis since the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this photo, Claudia is posing in front of a portrait of her late husband Norbert Burger. Norbert Burger was the Lord Mayor of Cologne and together with Indianapolis Mayor William Hudnut, he became one of the founding fathers of the Indianapolis/Cologne Sister Cities partnership.
Claudia is a member of Cologne’s sister city committee and very important also for her incredible impact as initiator of their roof organization, the CologneAlliance (unique in Germany):

Michael Patrick Kelly – Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door LIVE
Irish-American singer-songwriter Michael Patrick Kelly is coming to you from Cologne Cathedral to deliver eleven songs, including this poignant, stirring rendition of “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” written by Minnesota folk icon Bob Dylan. This video was posted on May 31, 2020.
Hartwig Prüßmann, chairman of Cologne’s Freundeskreises Köln-Indianapolis e.V., shared some notes on this special performance:
What you see in the section „PeaceBell” [19:01] (original title: „Last Words“) really is his peace bell that he had casted from old military weapons.
To avoid confusion and misunderstandings: The song „Last Words” [20:11] itself is created by only using real last words of famous people in world history, etc.
Here is a list of them (upper right side): https://hitparade.ch/song/Michael-Patrick-Kelly/Last-Words-1666935
The first line is quoting Leon Czolgosz.
